Broncos’ Mims Jr. Questionable with Hip Issue
The Denver Broncos’ otherwise smooth week of practice hit a snag Saturday when wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. was added to the injury report due to a hip problem.
Mims was limited in practice and is now listed as questionable for Monday night’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Sean Payton offered no details on how the injury occurred, though Mims was seen participating during the portion of practice open to reporters.
So far this season, Mims has recorded six receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown. Known for his special teams impact, the two-time All-Pro returner is averaging 17.2 yards on six punt returns and 27.6 yards on nine kickoff returns.
The rest of Denver’s injury list looked more encouraging. Tight end Evan Engram, who sat out last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with a back issue, was a full participant. Payton confirmed his availability, saying, “Good. Good. He’s doing well. He’s full. He’s playing.”
Engram’s return could prove vital as the Broncos attempt to halt a two-game losing streak, both defeats coming on last-second field goals. Payton highlighted Engram’s importance in key situations: “Third down, red zone come to mind — but with him on the field, we’re a better offense.”
On the Bengals’ side, tight end Noah Fant (concussion) and defensive end Shemar Stewart (ankle) have already been ruled out for Monday night.
