NBA Legend Carmelo Anthony Speaks Out Following Hall of Fame Induction
Former Knicks and Nuggets star reflects on career milestone and jersey retirement hopes.
The NBA officially announced its 2025 Hall of Fame class, and among the headline names were two iconic superstars: former Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and forward Carmelo Anthony, who made his mark with both the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.
Anthony, a 19-year NBA veteran and 10-time All-Star, was honored with one of the highest accolades in basketball. Despite never capturing an NBA title, his legacy and impact on the game were undeniable, earning him a well-deserved spot in the Hall of Fame.
Reflecting on the momentous occasion, Anthony shared his thoughts with Adam Zagoria, calling the honor the pinnacle of his career.
“This is the greatest accomplishment that I ever will attain,” Anthony said of his Hall of Fame induction.
Anthony also discussed the idea of having his jersey retired—both at Madison Square Garden and in Denver’s Ball Arena.
“Why not?” Anthony said when asked about the potential honor. “So we’ll see, but I would love to see that, man. For me it’s like, why wait? You know, it’s why wait? If you got to think about it, then cool, just let it be… I would like to see that jersey in both rafters, Denver and New York.”
Drafted third overall by the Nuggets in 2003, Anthony spent eight impressive seasons in Denver before moving on to the Knicks, where he shined for another seven years. His contributions to both franchises were immense, making a strong case for jersey retirement in both cities.
Whether or not his No. 15 (Denver) or No. 7 (New York) ends up in the rafters remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt Carmelo Anthony’s legacy is already etched into NBA history.
