NFL Insider: Saints Still a Potential Landing Spot for Quarterback in Draft…

NFL Insider Suggests Saints May Still Target Quarterback in Draft

The New Orleans Saints remain a potential candidate to draft a quarterback in late April, according to an NFL insider. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer discussed the team’s quarterback situation, mentioning Derek Carr, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Breer previously noted that the Saints’ handling of Carr’s contract—restructuring it to the minimum and converting the rest into a signing bonus—eliminated any realistic trade possibility. However, it did not rule out the idea of the team selecting a quarterback in the draft. Notably, Moore’s presence at Dart’s pro day suggests the team is exploring its options.

Currently, the Saints’ quarterback room includes Carr, along with Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and Ben DeNucci. With six picks in the top 150, the team has been evaluating several quarterback prospects, including Miami’s Cam Ward and Texas’ Quinn Ewers. While the Saints have publicly backed Carr as their starter for 2025, the long-term direction remains uncertain. Additional insights could emerge when Moore speaks at the NFL League Meetings in West Palm Beach on Tuesday.
