Panthers Coach on Brad Marchand: ‘We Expect Him to Play’
Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice confirmed Friday morning that forward Brad Marchand is set to make his debut with the team that evening against the Utah Hockey Club in Sunrise, Fla.
“We’ll get him through warmups and see,” Maurice stated, “but he’s healed past that. We expect him to play.”
Marchand, who was acquired from the Boston Bruins on March 7 in exchange for a conditional 2027 second-round draft pick, has been sidelined due to an upper-body injury.
The 36-year-old forward has tallied 21 goals and 26 assists, with a minus-8 rating, in 61 games this season. He had served as Boston’s captain since the start of the 2023-24 season.
A Stanley Cup champion with the Bruins in 2010-11 and a four-time All-Star, Marchand amassed 422 goals and 976 points over 1,090 games during his tenure with Boston.
