Carolina Hurricanes’ Top Forward Injured in Recent Matchup
The Carolina Hurricanes have been hit by the injury bug once again. During Saturday’s game, Seth Jarvis suffered an injury following a frightening collision in the team’s 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
Seth Jarvis Injured Against Kings
In the third period, Jarvis carried a pass from Sebastian Aho into the Kings’ zone but quickly became entangled with former Hurricanes player Warren Foegele. The collision caused Jarvis to fall awkwardly, twisting his neck before sliding past Foegele and crashing hard into the boards, his head making contact. He remained on the ice momentarily, holding his chin, as Hurricanes’ Head Athletic Trainer Doug Bennett rushed to assess him. Fortunately, Jarvis was able to exit the ice under his own power.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour commented on the incident, saying, “First off, that’s not what you want to see. We’re just trying to get through it at that point. I think he looks actually alright. I don’t wanna say, ‘cause you never know when they wake up the next day, but I think we avoided the worst.”
More Injury Concerns
Jarvis isn’t the only key player missing from the lineup. Captain Jordan Staal was absent from Saturday’s game due to a lower-body injury sustained from blocked shots in the previous matchup against the San Jose Sharks. Additionally, Shayne Gostisbehere missed the game due to illness.
On a positive note, Andrei Svechnikov has resumed skating with the team during practice. Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky also stated that William Carrier is expected to return in time for the playoffs.
Impact on the Team
Jarvis has been a crucial piece of the Hurricanes’ recent success, excelling at both even strength and on special teams. Leading the team with 27 goals, including four short-handed goals—just one behind the league’s leader, Sam Reinhart—he has stepped up defensively and increased his physical play during the team’s toughest stretches.
Before Saturday’s game, Jarvis was riding a six-game point streak, while the Hurricanes were on an eight-game winning streak. It remains uncertain how much time, if any, he will miss due to the injury. A clearer update may come soon as the Hurricanes prepare to face the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, a team that has seen significant changes since the trade deadline.
