Breaking News: Texans Shake Up the Trenches, Secure Former Patriots Star for O-Line Reinforcement.

The Houston Texans have made significant adjustments to their offensive line this offseason, highlighted by the unexpected trade of starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. To compensate for his departure, the team signed Cam Robinson to a one-year contract earlier this week. On Friday, they took another step in revamping their lineup.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Texans have reached an agreement to sign former Pro Bowl tackle Trent Brown to a one-year deal. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later reported that the contract could be worth up to $3 million.

Brown is best known for his time with the New England Patriots, where he was a key part of the dominant offensive line that helped secure a Super Bowl LIII victory. He also earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2019. Most recently, Brown played for the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2024 season, winning the starting right tackle job before suffering a season-ending torn patellar tendon in Week 3.

If he stays healthy, Brown brings valuable versatility to Houston’s rebuilt offensive line. While the Texans are likely not finished making moves, adding Brown and Robinson gives them two experienced tackles to help stabilize the unit.

This move is a strategic one for Houston as they work to strengthen protection for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
