Cincinnati Appoints Dr. Jason Stone as Director of Sport Science for Football
Emphasizing recovery and depth, Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats football team have introduced a new position to their staff this offseason. Dr. Jason Stone has been hired as the program’s first Director of Sport Science.
Stone joins Cincinnati from the Cincinnati Reds, where he served as the Applied Sports Science Manager.
“I’m excited to welcome Jason Stone to our football program,” Satterfield said in a press release. “His expertise in utilizing technology and data to enhance health and wellness will provide us with a competitive edge and ensure our student-athletes have access to cutting-edge resources.”
In his new role, Stone will oversee the integration of performance, training, and recovery across the program, tailoring individualized plans for each athlete. He will also manage data collection and analysis, utilizing Catapult technology to track player movements during practices and games, according to the release.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Stone shared, “I’m honored to join the Bearcats Football program and work alongside such a talented staff. Our goal is to implement data-driven insights through a collaborative approach across all departments, ensuring that every athlete has the necessary tools and support to reach their full potential both on and off the field.”
This appointment reflects Cincinnati’s commitment to modernization as it aims for success in the Big 12 and beyond. With depth and player health being critical for sustained performance, Stone’s expertise will help the program optimize these factors, particularly as operations transition to new facilities in May.
Stone previously worked at Ohio State as a sport science researcher and earned his doctorate from West Virginia.
