Tennessee Lady Vols Extend Historic NCAA Tournament Streak
The Tennessee women’s basketball team has once again secured its place in history, maintaining its streak as the only program to appear in all 43 NCAA Tournaments.
The Lady Vols boast an impressive tournament legacy, having played more NCAA Tournament games (165) than any other team. With 131 wins, they hold the second-most victories in tournament history and are eager to add another to their record.
Their next challenge comes on Friday against 12th-seeded USF (23-10) in the Birmingham 3 Regional. As the No. 5 seed, Tennessee will compete in Columbus, Ohio, at the Schottenstein Center, with tip-off set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
This marks UT’s first NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Kim Caldwell. The Lady Vols enter the tournament with a 22-9 record, having gone 8-8 in SEC play and advancing to the second round of the conference tournament. Their battle-tested season included 16 matchups against fellow tournament teams, resulting in an even 8-8 split.
Tennessee is one of nine SEC teams in this year’s tournament, joining powerhouses like South Carolina, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
