BREAKING NEWS: Seattle Seahawks Re-Sign Former Steelers WR Amid Major Wide Receiver Changes Potential for Increased Role in 2025 Season…

Seahawks Bring Back Former Steelers WR…

Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and special teams standout Cody White has re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks, marking his third season with the team.

White returns to a Seahawks squad undergoing significant changes at the wide receiver position, following the departure of Tyler Lockett and the trade of DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh. Jaxon Smith-Njigba now leads a relatively thin receiving corps, which also features former Steelers undrafted free agent and quarterback prospect John Rhys Plumlee.

Initially signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, White had brief stints with the New York Giants and Denver Broncos before landing on the Steelers’ practice squad later that year. He made his NFL debut with Pittsburgh in 2021, recording two catches for 17 yards in a 24-10 loss. White remained with the Steelers for three seasons before being released due to a hamstring injury.

Primarily utilized as a special teams gunner, White made an impact in 2024 when Metcalf was sidelined before Week 9. In a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, he hauled in two receptions for 44 yards and blocked a punt in a 26-20 overtime loss.

Given Seattle’s depleted wide receiver group, White could have an opportunity to earn more playing time and contribute consistently in the upcoming season.
