Auburn Linebacker Eugene Asante Turns Heads with Elite Athleticism at 2025 NFL Combine
The 2025 NFL Combine featured 29 linebackers and four total Auburn University representatives, but one name stood out among the competition Eugene Asante. According to NFL’s Next Gen Stats, the Auburn Tiger delivered the best athleticism score among all linebackers, cementing his status as a top performer.
Asante showcased his elite speed, tying for first in the 10-yard split with a blistering 1.52-second time and finishing second among linebackers in the 40-yard dash at 4.48 seconds. He also put up an impressive showing on the bench press, recording 21 reps good for fourth place in his position group.
Beyond his combine performance, Asante’s college career speaks volumes about his talent. A dynamic force in Auburn’s defense, he excelled in tackling, run-stopping, and quarterback pressure. Over his last two seasons, he racked up 131 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and even scored a defensive touchdown off a fumble recovery against Texas A&M in 2023. That same season, he led Auburn in tackles with 86.
Despite his remarkable athleticism, Asante is currently projected as a late-round draft pick or an undrafted free agent. However, his standout combine performance has undoubtedly elevated his stock. NFL teams will see him as a tenacious, high-motor linebacker with the potential to develop into a defensive asset. Initially expected to make an impact on special teams, Asante has the speed, toughness, and drive to evolve into a starting-caliber player at the next level.
The countdown to the 2025 NFL Draft is on, with teams making their selections starting April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Will Asante’s combine showcase be enough to secure his name on draft boards?
