The Houston Texans got a close look at several top prospects during the 2025 NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week, marking the unofficial kickoff to the offseason. With teams now refining their draft strategies, analysts are making bold predictions about how the first round will unfold.
One such prediction comes from Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports, who has the Texans selecting dynamic wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, a former Ohio State teammate of star quarterback C.J. Stroud.
“Injuries at receiver derailed Houston’s offense last season, so reuniting C.J. Stroud with his old Buckeye teammate would be a valuable addition,” Easterling noted.
A Game-Changer for Houston’s Offense
With a need for another reliable pass-catcher alongside Nico Collins, Egbuka emerges as a perfect fit. While other talented prospects are on the board, his chemistry with Stroud gives him an edge.
The young receiver himself has spoken highly of their connection, emphasizing how meaningful it was to hit the 1,000-yard mark with Stroud at the helm. His elite route-running and sure hands would provide an instant boost, easing pressure on Stroud and the rest of Houston’s playmakers.
While the Texans could also use an upgrade at guard, with top prospect Tyler Booker likely off the board, snagging a high-impact wideout in Round 1 and addressing the O-line in Round 2 seems like a winning formula.
