Saints Bolster Defensive Coaching Staff with Two Additions…

The New Orleans Saints are finalizing the remaining pieces of their coaching staff.

According to a report by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the team is set to welcome Robert Blanton and Jay Rodgers to new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley’s staff.

Blanton, a former NFL safety drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2012, transitioned into coaching after his playing career. He began as a defensive backs coach at Benilde-St. Margaret High School in Minnesota before moving to Miami University (Ohio), where he served as the defensive pass game coordinator and safeties coach.

Rodgers brings over 23 years of experience in both college and the NFL. His connection to Staley dates back to 2021 when he worked with the Los Angeles Chargers as their outside linebackers coach and run game coordinator. He continued in that role under Staley for the next two seasons before joining the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 as their defensive line coach.
