Texans Laser-Focused on Revamping Offense Around C.J. Stroud
The Houston Texans have one clear mission this offseason rebuild their offense to maximize quarterback C.J. Stroud’s potential.
After a challenging second season, the Texans are making strategic moves to create a more quarterback-friendly system. They parted ways with offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, who faced heavy scrutiny in 2024, and brought in Nick Caley, formerly the Los Angeles Rams’ pass game coordinator.
Caley’s expertise in quick-release passing could be a game-changer for Stroud, who endured a staggering 52 sacks last season. However, for this strategy to work, Houston needs receivers who can create separation swiftly and players Stroud trusts to deliver the ball with confidence.
One prospect who fits the bill perfectly? Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka. Known for his sharp route running and ability to thrive in a fast-paced passing attack, Egbuka already has a strong connection with Stroud from their days as Buckeye teammates.
During the NFL Combine, Egbuka confirmed he had a formal meeting with the Texans and spoke glowingly about Stroud, stating, “I have a lot of love for the guy.” He also reflected on his first 1,000-yard college season, which he achieved with Stroud leading the offense.
With Houston holding the No. 25 pick in the first round, there’s a realistic chance Egbuka could still be available. If he is, reuniting the former Ohio State duo could be the perfect move to elevate the Texans’ offense to new heights.
