South Carolina QB Prospect Landon Duckworth Shares Recruiting Update
Former South Carolina quarterback commit Landon Duckworth provides the latest updates on his recruitment and his current stance with the Gamecocks.
Landon Duckworth, a quarterback from Jackson, Alabama, was once a committed recruit for South Carolina but decided to de-commit in June of last year. Since then, several changes have taken place within the Gamecocks’ football program. Head coach Shane Beamer has secured a contract extension, and quarterback LaNorris Sellers has demonstrated his potential. As Duckworth nears the final stages of his recruitment process, his options remain open.
During the Under Armour Next Series event in Atlanta, Duckworth shared insights on where things stand between him and South Carolina.
Duckworth on the Program’s Changes Since His De-commitment
“Coach Loggains is gone, but Coach Beamer is still leading the team, which is great. We’ve maintained a strong relationship. I’ve also known Coach Shula for a while—he visited my school a couple of times, and we even had dinner together with my mom in Mobile.”
Expectations for the Offense Under Mike Shula
“It really depends on how things unfold. He worked with Cam Newton for a long time, and his father was a highly respected coach as well. They’re counting on him to make an impact.”
The Message from South Carolina’s Coaching Staff
“I stay in touch with Coach Beamer and Coach Shula regularly. I also talk with the entire staff, including the new hires. Their message has remained consistent—they really want me to be a part of the team.”

“Besides South Carolina, Florida State, Missouri, North Carolina, and Georgia are all prioritizing me. I really like Missouri.”
