JUST IN: Seahawks Head Coach Promises Exciting New Era on Offense with Klint Kubiak’s Revolutionary Approach as OC.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald praises new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for his ability to leverage the strengths of his players, which he believes was a key factor in Kubiak’s hiring to run Seattle’s offense.

“What’s exciting is how he maximizes the entire roster,” Macdonald shared during an interview with FOX 13’s Aaron Levine on Thursday.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Macdonald spoke with FOX 13, with the full interview airing Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. on Seattle Sports Live.

The Seahawks brought Kubiak on board in late January to replace Ryan Grubb, who was dismissed after just one season. While Kubiak’s official introduction to the media will take place Tuesday, Macdonald reflected on the decision with FOX 13.

“Klint is someone I’ve known for a long time, as well as his father. I have immense respect for both of them,” Macdonald commented.

Klint Kubiak, son of former Denver Broncos and Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak, has experience as an offensive coordinator with three teams: the Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints.

The Saints’ offense had struggles last season, finishing 21st in total offense, 23rd in passing, and 14th in rushing. With just 19.9 points per game, they ranked 24th in the league. However, the team was without starting quarterback Derek Carr for seven games due to injury. New Orleans won all five of its games with Carr on the field.

In 2021, Kubiak’s Vikings averaged 25.0 points per game (14th in the league), finishing 12th in total offense, 11th in passing, and 17th in rushing.

Macdonald highlighted Kubiak’s skill at highlighting players’ strengths: “He knows how to bring out the best in each player, no matter the position.” He pointed to Kubiak’s success with Alvin Kamara, Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins, and Justin Jefferson. “Klint’s ability to accentuate players’ strengths while minimizing their weaknesses is what I truly respect about him and his coaching style.”
