The San Francisco 49ers are bringing in another familiar face from the Seattle Seahawks’ coaching tree.
Gus Bradley has landed a new role with the 49ers after being let go as the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator. While his exact position remains undisclosed, he is set to reunite with Robert Saleh, who was recently re-hired as San Francisco’s defensive coordinator.
Bradley served as the Seahawks’ defensive coordinator from 2009 to 2012, initially under Jim Mora before being retained by Pete Carroll. His pivotal role in developing the ‘Legion of Boom’ propelled him to a head coaching opportunity with the Jacksonville Jaguars, though his tenure there was largely unsuccessful. Since then, he has led defenses for the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and most recently, the Colts.
This marks Bradley’s first non-defensive coordinator role since he served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebackers coach from 2006 to 2008.
Bradley isn’t the only former Seahawk within the 49ers’ ranks. Alongside him and Saleh, ex-Seattle linebacker K.J. Wright remains with the team as he enters his second season as a defensive quality control coach.
