Following Myles Garrett’s stunning trade request from the Cleveland Browns, Dawkins wasted no time in making a passionate pitch to the superstar pass rusher, urging him to bring his talents to Buffalo. While acquiring the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year would be a steep financial and asset-heavy move for the Bills, Dawkins is doing his part to make it happen.
Dion Dawkins Sends Public Recruitment Plea
While appearing on radio row ahead of the Super Bowl, Dawkins was asked which player he would most want to add to Buffalo’s roster for the upcoming season. After initially joking about recruiting basketball legend Allen Iverson in his prime, Dawkins quickly got serious and turned his attention to Garrett.
“Myles Garrett, right now,” Dawkins declared. “Come rock with us. Let’s win a Super Bowl.”
Buffalo has already been named a prime landing spot for Garrett, with The Sporting News’ Bryan Murphy identifying the Bills and Detroit Lions as top contenders for the elite edge rusher. Murphy emphasized that despite Buffalo’s already solid pass-rushing corps—featuring Gregory Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa—Garrett could be a game-changer in the Bills’ quest to finally dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Buffalo ranked middle-of-the-pack in team sacks this season with 39,” Murphy wrote. “They already have solid options on the edge, but this is Myles Garrett we’re talking about. If the Bills want to overcome Kansas City in the playoffs, what better way than unleashing Garrett on Patrick Mahomes?”
Garrett has been a dominant force in the league, recording double-digit sacks in each of the past seven seasons—including 14.0 in 2023. Despite previous investments in the pass rush, such as drafting Rousseau and Epenesa and signing veteran Von Miller, the Bills have struggled to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Myles Garrett Seeks a Championship Opportunity
In a powerful statement on social media, Garrett expressed gratitude for his time in Cleveland but made it clear that he’s ready to chase a Super Bowl.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” Garrett wrote. “The goal was never just to go from Cleveland to Canton—it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.”
Buffalo could provide the perfect destination to fulfill Garrett’s championship aspirations, but landing him won’t come cheap. The Browns are expected to demand a hefty package of players and draft picks in return, with the Bills currently holding the No. 30 overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Now, the question remains—can Buffalo pull off a blockbuster move to land Garrett and solidify their Super Bowl pursuit? If Dawkins has any say in the matter, he’s making sure the Bills are doing everything in their power to make it happen.
