The Pittsburgh Steelers are making a strong presence at the East-West Shrine Bowl, the first major All-Star event of the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. According to Josh Carney of Steelers Depot, the team is fully committed to scouting the Shrine Bowl under the leadership of assistant general manager Andy Weidl.
This year, the Steelers have a talented group of scouts in attendance, including Mark Bruener, Chidi Iwouma, Jim Ward, Dennis MacInnis, and Matt McCreight. Additionally, senior scouting assistant Kelvin Fisher and director of college scouting Dan Colbert are also on hand, alongside Weidl.
In recent years, the Shrine Bowl has gained significant importance for the Steelers, rivaling the Senior Bowl in its value. Last year, they selected guard Mason McCormick and defensive lineman Logan Lee from the Shrine Bowl, with McCormick later becoming a starter. Meanwhile, the team also picked up Payton Wilson, Zach Frazier, and Roman Wilson from the Senior Bowl, highlighting their focus on both events.
The Shrine Bowl will run through early next week, coinciding with the start of Senior Bowl practices, marking a crucial point in the Steelers’ draft evaluation process.
