The New England Patriots have reportedly brought in Ashton Grant as their new quarterbacks coach, per CBS’ Jonathan Jones.
Grant, a native of Manchester, Connecticut, and a standout wide receiver at Assumption College, earned the title of Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. His coaching journey began at Holy Cross, where he served as a volunteer special teams quality control coach.
In 2020, Grant joined the NFL through the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Cleveland Browns. Over the next two years, he gained experience working with various offensive positional groups before being promoted to offensive quality control coach in 2022.
Most recently, Grant served as an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach for the Browns, working under former Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. He also crossed paths with Mike Vrabel during his time in Cleveland.
Now with the Patriots, Grant will collaborate with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to develop quarterback Drake Maye. McDaniels, a key figure in shaping the Patriots’ offense, has typically taken on the quarterbacks coach role himself, except in 2020 when Jedd Fisch held the position.
