John Klingberg has chosen his new team for the 2024-25 season, signing with the Edmonton Oilers, as confirmed by NHL insider Darren Dreger. While the move isn’t a huge surprise, given that Edmonton had been the frontrunner for his services, it marks a significant step in Klingberg’s recovery journey. The veteran defenseman underwent double hip resurfacing surgery in the fall of 2023, and after a lengthy rehabilitation process, he made his return to the ice on November 11, 2024, with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Klingberg had previously split the 2022-23 season between the Anaheim Ducks and the Minnesota Wild, and this new chapter with the Oilers offers a fresh opportunity to prove his skill and value following his surgery.
