The Kansas City Chiefs face potential setbacks as they prepare for their playoff clash against the Houston Texans this weekend. After earning a bye week as the AFC’s No. 1 seed, Andy Reid’s squad is expected to be well-rested and ready to battle for another Super Bowl. However, concerns surfaced Thursday when it was revealed that two pivotal players, Jaylen Watson and Mecole Hardman, were listed on the injury report.
Starting cornerback Watson, who has been recovering from a broken ankle sustained in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers, was deemed questionable. Hardman, the wide receiver who caught the Chiefs’ game-winning touchdown in last season’s Super Bowl, was listed as doubtful.
Watson, sidelined with a fractured fibula since late October, has been back at practice since early January. He last played during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl rematch against the 49ers in October. Despite his questionable status, Watson is still expected to take the field for Saturday’s game, according to Pro Football Talk.
On the other hand, Hardman is facing a more uncertain return. Battling a knee injury, he was a limited participant in practice this week and remains doubtful to be activated from injured reserve in time for the game.
In more positive news, defensive tackle Chris Jones and left tackle D.J. Humphries have no injury concerns and are expected to be ready for the Chiefs as they chase their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
