Titans Complete Interview with Chiefs’ Assistant GM Mike Borgonzi for GM Role
The Tennessee Titans conducted a virtual first-round interview with Mike Borgonzi, Assistant General Manager of the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday for their General Manager position.
The team plans to continue interviewing other candidates in the upcoming days.
Borgonzi is in his 16th season with the Chiefs and was promoted to Assistant GM in 2021. Before that, he served as Director of Football Operations (2018-20) and held roles as Director and Co-Director of Player Personnel (2015-17).
In his current role, Borgonzi oversees the Chiefs’ college and professional scouting operations and assists GM Brett Veach in roster management and player acquisitions, including through the NFL Draft, free agency, waiver claims, and trades.
Before becoming Assistant GM, Borgonzi was Director of Football Operations for a year. He served as Assistant Director of Pro Scouting (2013-14) and Pro Personnel Scout (2011-12), evaluating players, recommending free agents, overseeing workouts, and preparing scouting reports. He joined the Chiefs in 2009 as College Scouting Administrator and previously worked as Assistant Recruiting Coordinator at Boston College (2007-08).
The Titans are searching for a new GM after parting ways with Ran Carthon, who was hired before the 2023 season. Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker is leading the search, which includes interviews with numerous NFL personnel evaluators.
Recent interviews include Dolphins Senior Personnel Executive Reggie McKenzie, former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, Buccaneers Assistant GM John Spytek, Colts Assistant GM Ed Dodds, Seahawks Senior Director of Player Personnel Matt Berry, Bills Director of Player Personnel Terrance Gray, Browns Assistant GM Catherine Hickman, and Bears Assistant GM Ian Cunningham.
Following the first round of interviews, the Titans plan to conduct further interviews with select candidates as they seek to appoint their next GM.
