Insider Predicts Tom Brady Will Abandon $375 Million Broadcasting Deal…
Tom Brady’s debut season as a broadcaster has drawn mixed reviews, and if predictions from Andrew Marchand of The Athletic prove accurate, the legendary quarterback might not stick around to refine his on-air presence.
Marchand suggests Brady could walk away from his 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX Sports after this season, citing Brady’s diverse business interests, including his role as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
In an excerpt from Marchand’s analysis, he states:
“I’ve previously speculated that Brady won’t complete his 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX due to his various ventures outside of broadcasting, like team ownership. While a safer bet might be that he exits after three or four years, I’m predicting he fully commits to NFL ownership and his production company by the start of the next season.”
Brady’s ownership stake in the Raiders, approved by NFL owners in October, has already imposed restrictions on his FOX analyst duties. He cannot attend production meetings with players and coaches, visit other teams’ facilities, or watch practices for the games he covers.
His broadcasting tenure has also been marred by criticism. In Week 1, NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson criticized Brady’s lack of energy during a high-stakes moment in a Cowboys-Browns game but later apologized, admitting his critique was unfair. By Week 9, The Ringer‘s Bill Simmons called Brady’s commentary during a Lions-Packers game “bad,” expressing disappointment in his lack of insight.
Should Marchand’s prediction hold, critics may not have to contend with Brady in the booth much longer, as he shifts his focus to other ventures, including NFL ownership and media production.
