According to Pierce, luck played a significant role in the Raiders’ struggles this season, stating, “You always want luck. You always want the ball to bounce your way. We just weren’t lucky enough this year.”
Pierce has faced mounting pressure due to the team’s poor results, and Raider Nation has been vocal about their dissatisfaction with his leadership. A major point of contention is Pierce’s recent admission that he’s not currently focused on building the future of the team, but rather on winning games now. Unfortunately, this mentality has hurt the team in the long run. As a result, the Raiders, who were once in contention for the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft, are now set to pick eighth. This puts them at a disadvantage for securing top quarterback prospects like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, who are likely to be selected in the top five picks.
