Lions Identified as a Potential Fit for Mid-Round WR Prospect in 2025 Draft…
The Detroit Lions may explore adding a young wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft, with one mid-round standout emerging as a potential target.
After underwhelming performances in his first two seasons, Jameson Williams has finally delivered on his promise for the Lions this year. In Week 16, he notched a career-high 143 receiving yards against the Chicago Bears, bringing him within 110 yards of a 1,000-yard season. Williams currently ranks third in the league with 18.9 yards per catch and has also contributed as a solid blocker.
The Lions’ receiving core is anchored by Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, both of whom remain key offensive pieces. However, Tim Patrick, who has thrived as a dependable No. 3 receiver, is set to become a free agent and may seek opportunities elsewhere.
While wide receiver won’t be Detroit’s top priority in the upcoming draft, general manager Brad Holmes is known for keeping the team’s talent pipeline stocked, regardless of immediate needs.
Lions Linked to Promising WR Prospect Pat Bryant
Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report recently identified Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant as a potential fit for the Lions in the 2025 draft. Sobleski highlighted Bryant’s rare combination of size, speed, and physicality, noting his 6’3″, 200-pound frame and ability to win downfield battles.
“Bryant offers legitimate X-receiver traits, with the burst to outpace defenders and the body control to excel on deep passes,” Sobleski explained. “Despite playing in the nation’s 83rd-ranked passing offense, he maximized his opportunities and could further elevate his stock during the Senior Bowl.”
Bryant had a breakout 2024 season with 984 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns, and an average of 18.2 yards per catch—ranking fourth among FBS players with at least 50 receptions. His seven-touchdown performance in 2023 foreshadowed this year’s success.
With Illinois head coach Bret Bielema’s system not known for prolific passing, Bryant’s pre-draft showcases, like the Senior Bowl, could significantly impact his stock. Currently projected as a fourth or fifth-round pick, a rise into Day 2 consideration is possible.
If the Lions choose to pursue a wide receiver in the draft, Bryant’s skill set and potential fit make him a compelling option to bolster their offensive depth.
