Five-star WR Dallas Wilson Chooses Oregon Over Florida …
One of the standout recruits in Dan Lanning’s 2025 class, five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson, has decided to part ways with the Oregon Ducks.
Wilson, a highly sought-after prospect, had been committed to the Ducks for a significant period. However, he recently requested to be released from his financial aid agreement with the team, announcing his decision to commit instead to the Florida Gators.
Initially, Wilson pledged his commitment to Oregon on January 17, 2023, and followed up with two campus visits during the summer of 2024. This included an official visit to Eugene on June 21. On December 4, 2024, Wilson solidified his choice by signing with Oregon on National Signing Day.
According to reports from @ZachAbolverdi, Wilson plans to officially sign with Florida after securing his release from Oregon.
The Florida native had compelling reasons for the switch. Wilson attended the Gators’ thrilling victory over LSU and visited the Gainesville campus just two weeks before committing to Oregon. Proximity played a role as well—his high school, Tampa Bay Tech, is only a couple of hours from the University of Florida, compared to the cross-country trip to Oregon’s Eugene campus.
The shift away from traditional National Letters of Intent means that most players now either sign NIL agreements or apply for financial aid on National Signing Day. This made Wilson’s flip less surprising, even after he had signed with Oregon.
Additionally, Florida’s head coach, Billy Napier, bolstered the program’s appeal with late-season wins over ranked opponents, including LSU and Ole Miss, which helped solidify his standing with the team and likely influenced Wilson’s decision.
