JUST IN: San Francisco 49ers Make Strategic Roster Moves, Adding New Talent Before High-Stakes Week 16.

The San Francisco 49ers have made several roster moves ahead of Week 16, signing offensive lineman Austen Pleasants and linebacker Chandler Wooten to the practice squad. To make room, tight end Mason Pline was placed on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve List, while cornerback Ambry Thomas was waived from the Injured Reserve List.

Pleasants (6-7, 330), who first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020, has spent time on practice squads with multiple teams, including the Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals. Throughout his career, he has appeared in two NFL games. The 27-year-old from Ironton, OH, played college football at Ohio University, where he started in 20 of 28 games over four years.

Wooten (6-3, 230) joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022 and has since spent time on practice squads with the Cardinals and Carolina Panthers. In his three-year career, he’s played 20 games, recording 11 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The 25-year-old from Acworth, GA, played at Auburn University, where he made 137 tackles, two interceptions, and five pass deflections in 43 games.

Pline (6-6, 254) was signed to the 49ers practice squad in August 2024, while Thomas (6-0, 190), drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 2021 draft, has played 42 games and made 65 tackles, 12 pass deflections, and two interceptions, including two touchdowns. He also played in five postseason games, recording 21 tackles and one pass deflection.
