JUST IN: Raiders Acquire Promising Young Running Back, Move Starting Wide Receiver to Injured Reserve.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ running game is finally gaining momentum, thanks in part to Sincere McCormick’s recent performance. With Alexander Mattison and Zamir White sidelined by injuries, McCormick has been called up from the practice squad in back-to-back games, impressing with his play.

In recognition of his efforts, the Raiders announced Tuesday that McCormick has been promoted to the active roster. This marks a significant milestone for the 24-year-old running back, who has spent three seasons on the practice squad before getting his first real shot this year.

McCormick has demonstrated potential, averaging 5.7 yards per carry over his last two outings. Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Raiders in 2022 after a standout career at the University of Texas at San Antonio, McCormick has battled through early-career injuries but now has the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

With Mattison and White failing to make a significant mark this season, McCormick has stepped in to fill the void, showcasing his skills in limited opportunities. His promotion to the active roster signals the team’s confidence in his abilities, and with five games remaining, McCormick could be in line for an even larger role.

DJ Turner Heads to Injured Reserve

The Raiders’ injury woes continue as DJ Turner, their third-leading wide receiver this season, has been placed on Injured Reserve. Turner’s breakout year has been cut short as he moves to IR, bringing an unfortunate end to what had been a promising season for the young wideout.

Turner, who had been thriving in a starting role, was sidelined for the first two seasons of his career but broke out in 2024 with 16 receptions for 158 yards and five rushing attempts for 33 yards and a touchdown. Known as a special teams standout, Turner was proving his worth on offense, but now his season appears to be over.

With only five games left in the season, it’s uncertain if Turner will return this year. However, his performance has shown enough potential to warrant another look from the Raiders in 2025.

Injuries Continue to Derail the Raiders’ Season

The Raiders have been plagued by injuries all season, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that they lack the depth to overcome them. After losing defensive end Malcolm Koonce for the season before it even began, the team’s challenges only worsened.

Key players like defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, quarterback Gardner Minshew (who broke his collarbone), and starting defensive backs Marcus Epps and Jakorian Bennett are all on Injured Reserve. With several other key players, including Divine Deablo, Maxx Crosby, and Michael Mayer, missing games due to injury, the Raiders have struggled to stay competitive.

While the team does have some standout talent, their inability to overcome the mounting injuries has left them tied for the worst record in the NFL at 2-10. Moving forward, improving their depth will be crucial if the Raiders hope to rebound and compete more effectively next season.
