Dak Prescott Expresses Support for Mike McCarthy’s Future with the Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has voiced strong support for head coach Mike McCarthy, expressing his hope that McCarthy will continue leading the team beyond 2025 when his current contract ends.
Prescott, sidelined for the season following hamstring surgery, shared his frustration over being unable to contribute on the field, especially during a critical period for McCarthy.
“You feel helpless when your coach is in the final stretch of his contract, and you believe in him so deeply,” Prescott said in a Zoom interview with Yahoo Sports. “I’m doing everything I can to support and help Mike, even from the sidelines.”
Having played under two head coaches during his nine-year tenure with the Cowboys, Prescott reflected on his experience with former coach Jason Garrett, who also faced contract uncertainty in 2019. Prescott welcomed recent remarks from team owner Jerry Jones, who indicated it wasn’t out of the question for McCarthy to stay beyond his current deal.
“I have complete faith in him,” Prescott said while promoting a partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods. “I won’t dive too deep into the specifics, but I absolutely believe he deserves another contract and the opportunity to lead this team on his own terms.”
Prescott emphasized his unwavering belief in McCarthy, concluding, “He’s the right person for the job, and I stand by him 100%.”
