The Detroit Red Wings have made a roster change ahead of their upcoming match against the Boston Bruins, recalling goaltender Sebastian Cossa from the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins on an emergency basis. In addition, the team has placed goaltender Alex Lyon on injured reserve, retroactive to November 27, 2024.
Cossa, 22, has been performing exceptionally well with the Griffins this season, registering a 9-4-1 record, a 2.21 goals-against average, and a .925 save percentage across 14 games. His solid performance also includes a shutout. The 6-foot-6, 222-pound goalie spent all of the 2023-24 season with the Griffins, finishing with a 22-9-9 record, a 2.41 goals-against average, and a .913 save percentage.
With Lyon unavailable, Cossa will step in to provide depth for the Red Wings as they prepare for a road game against the Bruins on Tuesday. Detroit heads into the matchup with a 10-11-3 record, while Boston holds a 12-11-3 record.
The Red Wings will be counting on Cossa to maintain his strong form and help the team stay competitive during this crucial period of the season.
