The Pittsburgh Steelers will be missing five players for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns, with only one absence attributed to injury. Star outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will sit out as he continues to recover from a low ankle sprain. Although he participated in two limited practices this week, Highsmith is expected to need another week before he’s ready to return to action. He sustained the injury against the Washington Commanders and has now missed three consecutive games, bringing his total absences this season to six.
Wide receiver Scotty Miller will also be inactive, continuing his struggle for playing time since the Steelers acquired Mike Williams and saw the return of Ben Skowronek. Offensive guard Max Scharping, who has yet to play in a game for the Steelers, will also be inactive after being signed to the team.
Running back Jonathan Ward remains on the active roster but will be inactive for the third straight game, as the Steelers have a full roster of healthy running backs. Quarterback Kyle Allen will be available as an emergency third option, only stepping in if both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are injured.
