JUST IN: Vikings QB JJ McCarthy Gives Uplifting Knee Injury Update Ahead of Crucial Cardinals Matchup.

The Minnesota Vikings watched as the Detroit Lions claimed a 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving, just three days before the Vikings’ home game against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. With the victory, the Lions improved to an impressive 11-1 record, raising the stakes for Coach Kevin O’Connell’s Vikings, who are now 9-2 and trailing Detroit by a game and a half. The Vikings are set to start Sam Darnold on Sunday, after his impressive performance against the Bears on November 24, where he threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns.

On Tuesday, rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy, who tore the meniscus in his right knee during the preseason, provided an update on his recovery. Speaking with former Michigan Wolverines and NFL tight end Jake Butt, McCarthy discussed his health following his second surgery earlier this month.

“How are you doing? How’s your knee?” Butt asked McCarthy, who described it as a “special Tuesday” due to Michigan-Ohio State week. McCarthy responded, “The knee is doing fantastic. It’s on the road they told me I’d be on, which is full of ups and downs, twists, turns, and challenges. Having to get cut open wasn’t great, but it’s all part of the process, and I’m in a good spot now.” Before the injury, McCarthy had thrown for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the preseason.
