JUST IN: Dodgers Shortstop José Hernández Banned for 2025 ACL Season Following Minor League Drug Policy Violation.

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop José D. Hernández has been suspended for the 2025 Arizona Complex League season after testing positive for boldenone and nandrolone, violations under baseball’s minor league drug policy.

Hernández, 21, had a standout season with the ACL Dodgers, posting a .302 batting average with four home runs and 21 RBIs over 26 games. The Venezuelan infielder signed with the Dodgers in 2019, receiving a $10,000 signing bonus.

This marks one of 20 suspensions this year for drug-related offenses, with 9 players sanctioned under the minor league program and another 9 under the policy for minor leaguers assigned outside the United States and Canada.

In the major league program, two players have faced suspensions this year. Notably, 22-year-old Cincinnati infielder Noelvi Marté, once considered the team’s top prospect, served an 80-game ban after testing positive for boldenone. Additionally, Toronto infielder Orelvis Martínez received an 80-game suspension on June 23 following a positive test for the performance-enhancing drug clomiphene, announced just days after his major league debut.
