Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been slapped with an $11,255 fine after an intense exchange with Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard during the Steelers’ narrow 18-16 victory last Sunday.
The incident unfolded after Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen forced a fumble on Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely. In the aftermath, Ricard ended up on top of a Steelers player, sparking Fitzpatrick’s frustration. A heated scuffle ensued, with Fitzpatrick shoving Ricard multiple times amidst the chaos.
Both players were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct during the game, but the NFL ultimately fined only Fitzpatrick, assigning the lion’s share of the blame to the Steelers’ safety. Ricard emerged from the altercation without financial penalties.
Last season, the Steelers were the most fined team in the league, but they’ve made noticeable efforts to play cleaner this year. Despite this improvement, neither the Steelers nor the Ravens escaped their high-stakes rivalry without fines in this latest showdown.
