At the close of the previous basketball season, Kentucky faced a significant turnover when head coach John Calipari departed to lead the Arkansas program. This mass exodus saw every scholarship player either enter the NBA or transfer to other schools, including standout freshman center Aaron Bradshaw.
Bradshaw made the move to Ohio State, where he’s averaged nearly 24 minutes per game in his sophomore year, recording 31 points, 18 rebounds, and six blocks. However, in his most recent game with the Buckeyes, Bradshaw was forced to leave after sustaining what appeared to be a head injury.
When asked for an update, the university issued a statement that raised more questions than answers, suggesting that the situation may not be injury-related at all.
“Aaron Bradshaw is not currently participating in team activities. The university is following its established process. Due to federal privacy laws, we cannot share further information at this time,” the statement read.
Ohio State’s insider, Ryan Stano, interpreted this as a likely disciplinary issue, noting, “That doesn’t sound good. Normally, when a team releases a statement like this, it’s a sign of something bad. It seems like Bradshaw might be in some sort of trouble. We don’t know the specifics, so I’ll hold off on further speculation until more details emerge.”
While rumors about the situation swirl, it appears Bradshaw may be suspended or possibly even removed from the team. However, as both Ohio State and Stano cautioned, speculation at this stage is premature. For now, it’s a disappointing turn for what had been a promising young talent.
The Kentucky Wildcats and Ohio State Buckeyes will meet on December 21st at 5:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden for the HBCU Showcase.
