Eddie Jones Responds to Danny Care’s Criticisms with a Surprising Twist…
Japan head coach Eddie Jones has dismissed former England scrum-half Danny Care’s criticisms of his “dystopian” training camps, suggesting the comments were made for publicity.
Following Japan’s 59-14 loss to England at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on Sunday, Jones was asked about Care’s remarks, detailed in the player’s book, Everything Happens for a Reason: My Life in Rugby. Care had described Jones as abrasive, claiming analysts were often terrified during his presentations.
Instead of addressing the accusations directly, the Australian coach announced his own upcoming book, humorously titled Caring About Care. He assured it would delve into the matter and joked about pre-order forms, adding, “That’s how you get headlines.”
Jones also praised England head coach Steve Borthwick and his team, particularly fly-half Marcus Smith, while maintaining his trademark wit about the controversy. “I’m very serious,” he said about his book, emphasizing it would contain a chapter dedicated to Care.
