JUST IN: Vancouver Canucks $56 Million Star Center Sensation Steps Away Indefinitely for Personal Reasons.

Vancouver Canucks star center J.T. Miller is taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons, the team announced Tuesday. The news came just hours before the Canucks’ morning skate, with general manager Patrik Allvin offering full support for Miller, though no further details were provided. “At this moment, our primary concern is ensuring that J.T. feels supported by the entire organization,” Allvin said. “In respect to J.T.’s privacy, we will not be making additional comments.” Personal leaves are not uncommon in the NHL, often managed through the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.

Miller, 31, has been a cornerstone for the Canucks since signing a seven-year, $56 million contract in 2019, playing a key role in Vancouver’s return to the playoffs that season after a four-year absence.

This year, Miller has maintained strong performance, averaging nearly a point per game, despite dealing with multiple injuries. He has contributed 16 points in 17 games. Although he suffered a preseason injury and another upper-body issue early this season, he has continued to play. The timing of his leave follows a challenging week, as Miller was benched during the third period of Sunday’s 5–3 loss to the Nashville Predators, sitting out nearly the final 15 minutes. The Canucks’ season has been inconsistent, with a 9-6-3 record in the first 18 games, placing them fifth in the Pacific Division.
