JUST IN: Legendary New York Giants Running Back Charlie Evans Dies at 76, Leaving a Lasting Legacy.

Former New York Giants running back Charlie Evans has passed away at 76.

The New York Post reported that Evans died at his Texas home on November 4. The cause of death remains undisclosed.

Evans was drafted by the Giants in 1971, initially joining a secondary squad. He broke through after a series of injuries on the team, scoring five touchdowns in just three games.

One of his standout performances came in 1972, when he scored two rushing touchdowns and one receiving in a decisive 45-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, that season ended prematurely when he broke his leg in a game against the Denver Broncos.

After one more season with the Giants in 1973, Evans joined Washington in 1974, marking the last year of his NFL career.

Reflecting on life after football, Evans once told *Newsday*, “The hardest thing to realize when you get out of the game is… no more freebies… no more autographs. Nobody wants you.”

As noted in his obituary, Evans donated his body to researchers investigating NFL concussion protocols.
