Jonathan Evans, reflecting on his father’s recent announcement, shared a hopeful perspective, stating, “If it’s not good yet, God’s not done yet.” He emphasized his belief that everything works for good for those who love God, and that what may come as a shock to others isn’t a surprise to God. “We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus,” Jonathan proclaimed, adding, “I don’t feel conquered. I feel like we’ve already won.” He emphasized the importance of standing firm in faith, trusting God’s word rather than being swayed by circumstances.
Jonathan also expressed excitement about the celebration that will take place when his father returns to the pulpit. “What are we going to do?” he asked. “We’re gonna play offense. We’re gonna go and do what God has called us to do, and when my dad returns, we’ll celebrate the victory we knew was coming all along.”
Jonathan clarified that his family was informed of his father’s situation in the same way as the congregation. “He told us the exact same thing he told you—no more, no less,” Jonathan said.
Less than a day after his father’s announcement, Jonathan received a call from Dr. Evans asking him to preach on Father’s Day. Jonathan responded simply, “Okay.”
In his statement, Dr. Evans spoke of this season of restoration and healing, describing his role as “a worshiper” alongside his church family. He expressed anticipation for all that God will continue to do in his life and ministry, building disciples and making an impact for God’s kingdom.
Additionally, earlier this week, it was reported that a Mexican Riviera cruise with Dr. Tony Evans, originally scheduled for Nov. 9-16, has been canceled.
