The Buffalo Bills have promoted wide receiver Jalen Virgil from the practice squad to their 53-man roster, as announced on Friday.
Virgil spent the first nine games of the season on the Bills’ practice squad, and he has been activated for game day twice.
This move comes as the Bills are set to face the Indianapolis Colts without WR Keon Coleman, who is sidelined with a wrist injury, while WR Amari Cooper remains questionable with a similar injury.
Initially an undrafted free agent, Virgil signed with the Denver Broncos in 2022 after a college career at Appalachian State, where he recorded 98 catches for 1,436 yards and 11 touchdowns over five seasons. Known for his speed, he was featured by The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman as one of college football’s “Freaks.”
In his NFL career so far, the 26-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia, has totaled five catches for 75 yards and one touchdown.
