JUST IN: Hornets Coach Delivers Another Strong Message About LaMelo Ball Following Win…
The Charlotte Hornets couldn’t have asked for a better outcome in their season opener.
Despite facing a tough opponent on the road, the Houston Rockets, and losing one of their key players, the Hornets managed to rally from an 18-point deficit and secure a five-point victory.
In his official debut as head coach, Charles Lee made an impact but gave primary credit to LaMelo Ball.
Ball, the former No. 3 draft pick, dominated throughout the game, finishing with a game-high 34 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, a steal, a block, and four three-pointers, shooting 50% from the floor.
When asked about Ball’s outstanding performance, Coach Lee acknowledged him as the “engine” of the team (via NBA).

Lee emphasized that Ball is only going to improve and expects more performances like this, provided he stays healthy.
However, Ball’s availability has often been a concern. Despite his undeniable talent, he has only played 51, 75, 36, and 22 games in past seasons, raising questions about his durability.
Unfortunately, the Hornets also faced an early setback as Brandon Miller left the game with a hip injury. While the injury isn’t expected to keep him sidelined for long, his condition remains an important storyline.
