The New York Jets have had an eventful week.
Following their loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the Jets traded for star receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders. Additionally, it appears that star pass-rusher Haason Reddick will finally join the team after a contract dispute.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reddick and the Jets have agreed to a revised contract, and he is expected to report to the team on Monday. The new deal includes his 2024 base salary of around $9 million, plus incentives that could help him recoup the $12 million in fines he incurred during his holdout.
Reddick was traded to the Jets during the offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles after Bryce Huff left in free agency. However, he didn’t report to the team initially because he was seeking a new contract. He recently switched to agent Drew Rosenhaus after being dropped by CAA, and Rosenhaus credited Jets owner Woody Johnson for playing a significant role in the negotiations.
With Reddick’s consistent performance of over 10 sacks in each of the past four seasons, he is expected to further strengthen the Jets’ defense, which currently ranks second in fewest yards allowed.
Before Reddick’s arrival, the Jets are set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football at 8:20 p.m. ET, airing on NBC and Peacock.
