The Chicago Bears are in a new position as they consider making moves before the trade deadline. Where should they focus their efforts?
While the Bears have several areas they might want to address, like linebacker, edge rusher, and tight end, the offensive line remains the most pressing need as they approach the midpoint of the season.
Protecting rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is vital not just for this year but for the long-term success of the team. Although the Bears initially struggled in this area, they’ve shown progress in the last three weeks, contributing to their current winning streak.
With the trade market now in play, the Bears have a chance to enhance their offensive line. Nick Villano from FanSided suggested that Jacksonville Jaguars’ starting tackle Cam Robinson could be an ideal target for them.
“Robinson is a veteran and one of the few reliable options available via trade,” Villano stated. “The Bears will face competition, which could increase the cost, but they have significant assets (like the Carolina Panthers’ second-round pick) that might persuade the Jaguars.”
Robinson, 29, has been Jacksonville’s primary left tackle since he was drafted 34th overall in 2017. As he’s in the final year of a three-year, $54 million deal, it would make sense for the Jaguars to trade him now to gain value rather than risk losing him for nothing.
The Bears have the need and the means to pull off a big trade, and Robinson could be the crucial piece to help Williams grow into a standout quarterback.
