According to a report from 247Sports, there has been significant speculation around the potential trade of Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders’ standout defensive end. Although no deal has been finalized, the trade rumors are intensifying, with Crosby being linked to several teams. His situation mirrors that of Davante Adams, another Raiders star, who requested a trade and ultimately joined the New York Jets to reunite with Aaron Rodgers.
When asked about his future, Crosby emphasized that his focus is on winning, stating, “I’m not here to rebuild, I’m here to win… wherever I’m gonna be, I’m gonna be here to win.” This comment has fueled speculation that Crosby might be open to a move, especially as the Raiders are currently struggling with a 2-4 record and are in need of both a future quarterback and defensive reinforcements. Their defense, which has missed 83 tackles, leads the NFL in that unfortunate category.
Crosby has been a defensive anchor for the team since entering the league in 2019, amassing 97 career tackles for loss and five-and-a-half sacks this season. In both 2022 and 2023, he recorded 12 or more sacks and at least 80 tackles, making him one of the few players to achieve such stats in the last 30 years.
Several teams have been mentioned as possible landing spots for Crosby, especially after Detroit Lions’ star Aidan Hutchinson sustained an injury. Given Crosby’s Michigan roots, some believe he could be a perfect fit for Detroit. The Washington Commanders, who recently lost Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, have also emerged as a possible destination.
However, Raiders owner Mark Davis has publicly dismissed the idea of trading Crosby, stating, “It’s just not happening.” This mirrors what the Raiders’ coach said about Adams before he was eventually traded: “He’s still a Raider… He’s working every day to get his hamstrings right. He’s in the right headspace mentally.”
Despite Davis’ denial, the Raiders could benefit from acquiring draft capital by offloading their stars before the November 5 trade deadline. Although Crosby has not formally requested a trade, his desire to win, wherever he may be, leaves the door open to a potential move.
