The Las Vegas Raiders have decided to honor All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams’ trade request by sending him to the New York Jets, following weeks of speculation in the NFL. Now, Raiders’ star edge rusher Maxx Crosby is at the center of trade rumors as the NFL trade deadline approaches in November.
Despite dealing with a hamstring injury, Adams quickly returned to action after his move to New York. Meanwhile, Crosby, who is 27 years old, has been playing through a high-ankle sprain in recent weeks.
Following the Detroit Lions’ loss of edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a season-ending injury in Week 6, Crosby’s name has once again surfaced in trade talks. A native of Michigan, Crosby has expressed his desire to play for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. His recent comments after the Adams trade have only fueled more speculation about his future.
Crosby openly stated to reporters that he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuilding process in Las Vegas and that he wants to win now, wherever that may be. His remarks quickly sparked excitement on NFL Reddit and Lions message boards about a possible trade, though it remains uncertain if this interest will lead to an actual request.
Addressing the trade chatter, Crosby clarified, “It’s unfortunate today, but there’s so much outside chatter that is not true. It’s not coming from any sources. It’s not coming from anything. My basic thing is never to answer all that stuff because, otherwise, you get trapped in this black hole. It’s just not happening.”
The Raiders’ struggles in recent years have largely been due to their missed opportunities in the NFL Draft, making Crosby one of their few bright spots. As one of the most recognizable faces on the team, he plays a crucial role in keeping the franchise popular and filling seats in the stadium. Letting him go would not help in that regard.
Therefore, even if Crosby does formally request a trade or continues to be linked to rumors, it appears unlikely that the Raiders will consider moving him during the regular season.
