This makes the offensive line the most likely area to see an upgrade before the NFL trade deadline on November 5.
General manager Ryan Poles is reportedly looking into potential trades, specifically monitoring players from teams like the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Los Angeles Rams, who are likely to be sellers. There is speculation that Chicago could pursue three-time Pro Bowler Wyatt Teller if these teams decide to make moves before the trade freeze.
According to Bears podcaster Haize, featured on Bleacher Report, Wyatt Teller is an option that Poles is considering. Teller, despite his injury concerns and a significant cap hit of $22 million next season, has proven to be a top-tier player when healthy. Reports suggest that the Bears might be able to acquire Teller for a Day 3 pick in the draft.
However, any deal for Teller may not happen until closer to the trade deadline. Teller is currently on the injured reserve list with a knee injury, making him ineligible to return until at least October 27, when the Browns play the Ravens.
The Browns might consider trading Teller due to financial constraints, as they aim to relieve some of their future salary cap pressure. While Teller’s contract includes a base salary of $1.5 million, the Bears would likely avoid paying for his remaining game checks while he’s still recovering from his injury.
Despite a slow start to the season with a 1-4 record, the Browns might attempt to turn things around over the next few weeks as they anticipate the return of key players. Their offensive line, which has allowed a league-leading 26 sacks, remains a concern, and they could look to improve their performance if they manage to get their starters back on the field.
