Quarterback Russell Wilson is making significant progress toward playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time this season.
On Wednesday, Wilson was listed as a full participant in practice, marking a change from his previous limited involvement due to a calf injury that has kept him sidelined since the season began.
This is the first time in over a month that Wilson has fully participated in practice, signaling a potential return to action.
Meanwhile, running back Jaylen Warren (knee) also returned to practice, but only on a limited basis.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin now faces a decision. Justin Fields has been filling in as the starter while Wilson was out, and despite leading the team to a 3-0 start, the Steelers have dropped their last two games.
Fields’ performance has been inconsistent, with 961 passing yards, five touchdowns, one interception, and three rushing touchdowns across five games.
Wilson was originally seen as the team’s starter before his injury, and while Tomlin has not explicitly confirmed a change, there’s little reason to expect a shift in that view.
