The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with a significant number of injuries this season. Their offensive line has struggled, with Isaac Seumalo missing the first four games, and both James Daniels and Troy Fautanu out for the rest of the season. Now, their edge rushers are also facing setbacks.
Alex Highsmith was sidelined during the Steelers’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. Nick Herbig took over and performed impressively, recording 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. However, Herbig suffered a hamstring injury against the Cowboys and will miss the Steelers’ Week 6 game against the Raiders. DeMarvin Leal is also out, so Jeremiah Moon is expected to play extensively alongside T.J. Watt. Additionally, Cordarrelle Patterson will be unavailable, and Jaylen Warren, Damontae Kazee, and MyCole Pruitt are listed as doubtful.
Last season, the Steelers defeated the Raiders in Las Vegas in Week 3. The Raiders recently replaced Gardner Minshew with Aidan O’Connell during their Week 5 loss to the Denver Broncos, so it’s uncertain who they will start at quarterback for Week 6.
