The Studio Behind My Hero Academia Teases a Significant Plot Twist in its Latest Anime Announcement.
Bones, the studio responsible for hit anime like My Hero Academia, has announced an expansion that hints at significant future developments.
Since its 2016 debut, My Hero Academia has maintained its status as one of the most popular ongoing anime. The show’s success, especially with characters like Deku and Class 1-A, has bolstered Bones’ reputation as a major force in the anime industry.
Over the years, Bones has produced numerous anime series, leading to the establishment of multiple internal teams. Recently, they introduced another one—a division dedicated exclusively to producing anime films. This new branch, named Bones Films, opened on October 1, 2024, although no specific projects have been revealed yet. The announcement simply expresses hope for continued audience support.
While it’s unclear what this new team is currently working on, the timing is notable. My Hero Academia Season 7 is nearing its end, and the show is approaching the Final War Saga, where Deku and his allies will face Shigaraki and All For One for the last time.
There is speculation that My Hero Academia could follow the path of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and transition to film for its concluding chapters. The franchise has already released four films, including the upcoming My Hero Academia: You’re Next, though these have largely been semi-canonical spin-offs.
The studio could potentially bring the epic final battle of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga to the big screen, giving it the cinematic treatment fans have been hoping for. Alternatively, this new venture might simply allow Bones to take on more projects as My Hero Academia approaches its conclusion, leaving room for the next big hit to emerge.
