Breaking News: Lakers Receive Favorable Injury News Concerning Essential Role Player
It’s been five months since the Los Angeles Lakers last played a game, and during the offseason, they appointed JJ Redick as their new head coach in hopes of a stronger season ahead.
The regular season kicks off on October 22, with the Lakers facing the Timberwolves. While LeBron James and Anthony Davis will continue to lead the team, there’s positive news regarding forward Jarred Vanderbilt.
As reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Vanderbilt’s rehab following offseason surgery on both feet has gone well. Although he hasn’t tested himself on the court yet, once he does, it’ll take about a month before he’s game-ready.
On the “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast, McMenamin suggested that Vanderbilt could realistically return by early November, saying, “Once he begins testing it, you’re looking at roughly a month. With the season starting October 22, we could see him by the first half of November.”
Vanderbilt himself sounded optimistic during media day, saying, “I feel great. The process has been smooth, everything is on track,” according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
The 25-year-old brings athleticism and energy to the court, excelling as a defender and a solid rebounder for Los Angeles. Over two seasons with the Lakers, Vanderbilt has averaged 6.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 52% from the field.
As the Lakers aim for a deep playoff run this season, they’ll need contributions from every player, including Vanderbilt.
